50 Years of the Harbour Bridge


Today is the 50th anniversary of Auckland Harbour Bridge, so we decided to head down to Northcote Point to take some photos.






From this point you can go right underneath the bridge, and also get great views back to the city.






I found some pictures on the internet showing the construction of the bridge back in 1958-9.





The original bridge was only 4 lanes wide and no central barrier, with the clip-ons added 10 years later to bring it up to 8 lanes and a movable central barrier. The volume of traffic today means that they could do with another 4...
